Non-Polish Authors Published by the Literary Institute

The first issue of Kultura opened with a Polish translation by Bogusław Szybek of Paul Valéry's La Crise de l'espirit (The Spiritual Crisis), and Benedetto Croce's “La Fine della Civiltà” (Twilight of Civilization), translated from the Italian by Gustaw Herling-Grudziński and Włodzimierz Sznarbachowski.

Giedroyc, who claimed that his own language skills amounted to nothing, placed great importance on translating works from other languages.
